North Sulawesi, Indonesia, flooding emergency: 6 dead and thousands displaced

Several areas of Manado, the provincial capital, are known as "Christian city" underwater. At least a thousand people affect and people seeking temporary shelter, food, and drinking water.


Torrential rains fell in northeastern Indonesia for four days beginning January 14, causing floods that have devastated houses, claimed
 lives, and destroyed livelihood. The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) reports that there are 6 peopledead.The disaster occurred again after the rain flushed the city of Manado again on January 21, there are 3 people dead andone missing and approximately 2000 displaced.

The Indonesian province of North Sulawesi is home to many Christian and Catholic communities, much higher in proportion to the rest Muslimmajority nation, the presence is such that the capital of Manado is called a "Christian city " because of the high number of Protestant communities while Catholics are about 3% (in line with the national figure).

The total collection now is $775.The total of the first sows has been distributed directly to relatives, churches who need food, drink, etc.
